We are currently researching a new
performance piece to be called
1 Beach Road. The development
process is on going and we plan to
have the show available for autumn
2011.
We had an intensive research and
development period in June 2009 at
SouthStreet, Reading; working with
Suli Holum (Writer), Sabina Netherclift (Director), Andrew Dawson (Visual Artist / Performer / Director) and Designer Tina Bicat (Critics Circle Award for Design). QuickTime R&D promo
1 Beach Road explores the metaphorical connections between Alzheimer’s and Coastal Erosion the play asks " what is it like to lose everything - your mind and your home ? "
Like The Idiot Colony the starting point will be true stories. A tale of two women; an old synchronised swimming double act, living at 1, Beach Road, the only house not to have been washed away by the sea. Further info
From Newbury with Love
From Newbury With Love (FNWL) is
a book of letters exchanged between
1971 and 1986 between Harold &
Olive Edwards, antiquarian booksellers
in Newbury and the family of Marina
Aidova, the daughter of an imprisoned
Soviet dissident, living in Kishinev,
Moldova . This exchange of letters was
inspired by the Amnesty letter-writing
campaign.
Scheduled for activity to take place in
2011, Amnesty's 50th anniversary.
Redcape Theatre will devise a physical
theatre play based on the book FNWL,
this will premiere and run for two weeks
at The Corn Exchange, Newbury with a
visual and audio live link up with a
theatre in Moldova.
There will be a cultural exchange programme between youth theatre groups in Newbury and Moldova. This will take place over a number of weeks prior to the premiere performance. The youth group’s performance will be inter woven into the play and involve live interaction between The Corn Exchange and a theatre in Moldova.
